'Fifty Shades of Grey' Movie Gets a Release Date
Funny or Die
As everyone knows, the steamy read Fifty Shades of Grey is coming to the big screen — and now we know when! Mark your calendars: August 1, 2014.
The exciting news came straight from the studio, via Twitter. "#FiftyShadesofGrey is now a shade closer," Focus Features tweeted with a graphic spilling the news.
This news comes shortly after another big announcement: Sam Taylor-Johnson is directing. "I am excited to be charged with the evolution of Fifty Shades of Grey from page to screen," she told E! News. "For the legions of fans, I want to say that I will honor the power of Erika's book and the characters of Christian and Anastasia. They are under my skin, too."
However, the juicier details, like who will play Christian and Anastasia, are still under wraps. Supposedly Robert Pattinson is somehow involved in the project and Stephen Amell is out. We're just really hoping Selena Gomez isn't overlooked — she's already proven she can handle the role, in a Funny or Die parody no less.
While you're waiting for more details, check out Gomez's hilarious skit below.
