'Girls' multi-hyphenate to pen four issue series focusing on Riverdale characters.

How does Lena Dunham follow up a successful HBO show like "Girls?" By writing a four-part Archie comic, of course. The actor/writer/producer will pen the unnamed story for 2015, which presumably (at least based on the promo image) will focus on the girls of Riverdale.
"I was an avid Archie collector as a child," Dunham said via press release. "Conventions, first editions that l kept in plastic sleeves, the whole shebang. It has so much cultural significance but also so much personal significance, and to get to play with these beloved characters is a wild creative opportunity."
The deal is part of a larger step Archie Comics is making towards updating their image, a journey that began with the introduction of their first gay character a few years ago, and even marrying Archie to long-time beaus Veronica and Betty, in dual "alternate reality" comics.
Also as of this morning, Archie has also hired "Glee" writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa as Chief Creative Officer of the company. Aguirre-Sacasa has been a frequent writer of Archie comics, including the currently running zombie riff "Afterlife with Archie." His first act as CCO? Hiring Dunham, of course.
"Everyone at Archie is thrilled Lena's coming aboard to write this story, and I can tell you, it's going to be fantastic," Aguirre-Sacasa said. "Lena's take on the Archie gang is funny and real and contemporary. It's a stunning fit, and I know fans will be excited to read it. I am!"
No word yet on whether Reggie will pee on Betty in the shower.
