At long last, deadmau5's sixth studio album is upon us. Tuesday (September 25) marks the release of > album title goes here <, the latest entry in his already-storied EDM career.

MTV News caught up with the man behind the mouse head ahead of his appearance at the iHeartRadio Music Festival to discuss a few of the finer points of his process this time around, including the inspiration for the tongue-in-cheek title.

"I've been on this track record of not naming album titles with [actual] album titles, so it looked like a print error, and now it doesn't look like a print error, because that's what everyone's calling it," he said. "It's a good joke that went bad."

We then asked about the album's cover art, which features the face of a cat wearing the artist's signature mouse ears, and what double meaning or metaphor he might have been going with in selecting that image. Did it have anything to do with his girlfriend, "LA Ink" tattoo artist Kat Von D?

"Yeah, I didn't even think about that until after, and I was like, 'Ah, gah,' " he said, alluding to the unintentional link.

With regard to deadmau5's process on the new album, he explained that it came together in a slightly unconventional way, via limited amounts of spare time when he was at home. "[Making] the album was cool. It wasn't one of those albums where I did 'A, B, C, this is the way the album is going to go' with the tracks. It's more of a poster book of a year and a half because I had a big f---ing tour year, and if you're going to do an album, you have to be home and do an album, and then you're done like normal people. So yeah, as fate would have it, I would get home for a couple of weeks, and I would do that one song and people saw that, you stream it live and then I thought, 'Okay, I'll put it on the album.'"

"[> album title goes here <] is like a poster book of my year and the work I got done in the chaos kind of thing," he continued. "Hopefully next time, and I know I say this every f---ing time, that I'll have this year off of touring and put together something that's like [Pink Floyd's] The Wall. No, don't even compare me to that please ... something that tells a story and has a big package thing [around it]."

So speaking of this "break" he keeps saying he wants to take, when is it going to happen? "Oh, f--- a break," he said. "I just like working. It's fun."
