After finding success in their first collaboration, Joaquin Phoenix is in talks with Paul Thomas Anderson to star in his new film, "Inherent Vice."
Based on the Thomas Pynchon novel set in the 1960s, the story follows Doc Sportello whose ex-girlfriend shows up with a story about a plot to kidnap a billionaire land developer whom she just happens to be in love with.
Their previous project, "The Master" gained critical acclaim and box office success, with three of its stars, including Joaquin gaining an Academy Award nomination for best actor and Philip Seymour Hoffman for best supporting actor.
However, the 38-year-old enigmatic actor may be hesitant to accept the award. After winning a London Critic's Choice Award earlier this month, Phoenix noted in his written acceptance speech, "P.S. There's an up-and-coming actor named Daniel who's in a movie called 'Lincoln.' You should check it out."
