Wiz Khalifa and the Weeknd make a pretty unforgettable combination on their new collaboration "Remember You." Though the track is the newest single off Khalifa's upcoming O.N.I.F.C. LP, he revealed to MTV News that it was the OVOXO star who came up with the track's original concept.
"It came together, that was actually Weeknd's idea," the Taylor Gang captain told MTV News as he walked the red carpet at the 2012 BET Hip-Hop Awards taping on September 29 in Atlanta. "They sent it to me like, 'Yo, I got this beat, I got this song idea and we should rock with it.'"
The slow and thumping track is an untraditional love song, on which the Toronto singer/songwriter begs his one-night lover to do something to stand out from the rest of the women he meets on tour. "All I ask of you is try to earn my memory, make me remember you, like you remember me," Weeknd sings in his calming falsetto.
"When we put it together, it started off small, and then it just grew to something so major and it was like, 'Yo, we gotta run with it man. The vibe on here is incredible, ' " Wiz said of the track. "It's beautiful."
Not only is the T.G.O.D. MC releasing a new album, out December 4, he is also expecting his first child with his wife-to-be Amber Rose. The couple have been open about their relationship in the media and even posed for the October/November issue of XXL Magazine. Still, there are some things that the lovebirds choose to keep private, like whether they're having a boy or a girl. "I do know, but then [Amber] told us not to say yet. We'll wait until she's ready," he told MTV News.
