Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce after five years of marriage, People magazine reports.
"This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family," Holmes' attorney, Jonathan Wolfe, told the magazine. "Katie's primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter's best interest."
Cruise and Holmes — or TomKat, as the tabloids dubbed them — have always seemed very enthusiastic about their relationship to the press and the public since they began their whirlwind romance in 2005. Cruise made international headlines shortly after he and Holmes started dating when he appeared on "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and ended up jumping up and down on her couch with enthusiasm for his newfound love for the "Dawson's Creek" star.
The couple got engaged at the top of the Eiffel Tower in June 2005 and later announced their pregnancy in October.
Shortly thereafter, the couple made headlines once again when they were married in an Italian castle in November 2006, a ceremony and celebration that was attended by a few of the most famous faces (and a few former couples) in Hollywood like Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony, Brooke Shields and Chris Henchy, Will and Jada Pinkett Smith and Jim Carrey and Jenny McCarthy. The "Rock of Ages" star, 49, and Holmes, 33, have one very famous daughter, 6-year-old Suri.
This was Cruise's third marriage (he was previously married to Mimi Rogers and Nicole Kidman) and the first for Holmes.
