It’s a grim outlook for James Holmes, who was formally charged with twenty-four counts of 1st degree murder by an Aurora District Court judge today (July 30).
The 24-year-old suspect allegedly entered an Aurora, Colorado movie theater earlier this month and opened fire on the crowd at the midnight showing of “The Dark Knight Rises.”
Holmes is being charged with killing twelve people and wounding an additional fifty-eight, and in total he has 142 criminal counts against him.
A former Denver police chief told press, “I don’t think it’s too hard to predict the path of this proceeding. This is not a whodunit. ... The only possible defense is insanity."
