Jennifer Lopez is ready to open up about her life on Wednesday when she sits down with MTV News' very own Sway Calloway during "MTV First: Jennifer Lopez." Besides dropping her brand-new music video for the Flo Rida-assisted "Goin' In," she is also touching on some of the moments in her life that have influenced her musically over the last year.
"Where you are in your life and what is going on is what you tend to sing about," she said during the lengthy and candid chat. "I only go by what I feel and what moves me."
While much of her latest release, Dance Again...the Hits, features some of her best singles over the course of her career, the album's title track reflects her emotions after she split from her husband Marc Anthony.
"Even in this Dance Again...the Hits and the single 'Dance Again' was very much how I was feeling at that moment. It was a song that Enrique [Iglesias] wrote for himself and the chorus to me, 'I want to dance and love and dance again,' at that time in my life when I had just gone through a breakup of a family, not just a relationship, it was [me asking]: To dance again? Or to love again? Or to do anything again felt like 'wow.'
"But that's what I wanted," she added. "I wanted to do that. And so that song, I begged Enrique, 'You have to let me change a couple of words in the verses to make it my own,' and he was like, 'Yeah, it's your song.' I went and I did it. When you see the reaction from the crowd when I perform it, it's like, it's mind-blowing."
The "Goin' In" video will make its world premiere on MTV on Wednesday with an exclusive 30-minute interview with Lopez and MTV News. She's set to not only open up about the video, her music and her personal life, but she'll also talk about her exit from "American Idol."
