Pattinson, Stewart, and Lautner are three of the most profitable actors in Hollywood, according to Forbes. They provide studios with the highest average returns for their films.
Comparing the earnings of each star's last three films at the box office in relation to how much they were paid, Forbes calculated that Stewart provided the second best bang for the buck in Hollywood. For every dollar she gets paid, she returns roughly $40 in box office revenue.
Wondering who came in at the No. 1 spot? That would be Natalie Portman, whose Black Swan managed to rake in $330 million worldwide on a slim $13 million budget. The beautiful brunette returns $42.70 on every dollar she's paid. "Because Portman doesn’t demand a giant payday (yet), she’s a fantastic investment," says Forbes.
But back to the Twilight. While it was Stewart who ranked highest on the list, Pattinson and Lautner scored the Forbes honor as well. Pattinson came in fourth, returning $31.70 for every dollar he's paid, while Lautner landed at the No. 6 spot with a $29.50 return.
When they aren't starring in vampire films, Pattinson and Lautner have struggled to score box office riches. Lautner starred in 2011's Abduction, an action film that felt like a cheap Bourne Identity knock-off. Panned by critics, the movie flopped, earning a disappointing $28 million (domestically) on a $35 million budget. Pattinson hasn't had an easy time either. Water for Elephants struggled at the box office, while Bel Ami and Cosmopolis both came and went with a thud.
But due to the enormous success of Breaking Dawn - Part 2 — the final Twilight film has earned nearly $800 million worldwide — Pattinson and Lautner were a solid investment in 2012.
