Ping Pong – review

A twinkly, lovely documentary about the over-80s table tennis world championships, featuring remarkable men and women whom age cannot wither, nor custom stale their infinite backhand flicks.

This is the first theatrical release by the Britdoc organisation who have had such influence over the way such films are constructed in recent years, and the film, by Hugh and Anson Hartford, certainly follows their best practice doctrine: strong characters, great access and a firm grip on story arc. Smashing, indeed.
