Robert Pattinson was shown at the VMAs tonight for about five whole seconds, ahead of a showing of an exclusive Breaking Dawn clip. The star stood on stage with co-stars Elizabeth Reaser, Peter Facinelli, Taylor Lautner, and Jackson Rathbone, but didn't walk the red carpet.

It wasn't too surprising that Pattinson's appearance was a quick one at the show. The Kristen Stewart cheating scandal would have surely come up in an interview, and that might have been another round of awkward the star didn't want to face — especially because she was noticeably absent from the event.

Instead of hanging with the Twilight crew in L.A., Stewart was on the red carpet in Toronto for their annual film festival. She promoted her other flick, On the Road, in a striking dress and even smiled for the cameras. She showed up at LAX on her way to Canada Wednesay in Robert Pattinson's T-shirt. Hmm.
