Well that's just what Robert Pattinson did with Jon Stewart during the actor's first public interview since girlfriend Kristen Stewart's dalliances with her married Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders made headlines worldwide.
As expected, Stewart mostly played softball with Pattinson, offering him ice cream at the top of the interview and said that they were "just two gals catching up." Dressed in a sharp blue suit and sporting a bit of stubble, the Twilight actor seemed to be in good spirits as he gamely joked that he didn't know how to handle awkward interviews. "My biggest problem in my life is that I'm cheap, and I didn't hire a publicist," he laughed. "I'm going to hire a publicist."
Stewart hinted at the Robsten drama, musing, "A breakup can really feel like the end of the world to a young person, doesn't it?" Pattinson nodded in agreement, but didn't offer any details about the status of his heart or relationship. He did, however, promote his new movie, Cosmopolis, and he had a very special request for the Twilight fans watching:
"If any Twilight fans have tuned in, I genuinely want to make Cosmopolis have a higher opening weekend than The Dark Knight [Rises], " he said. "But the problem is, it's only opening in six cinemas. It's going to be a challenge. Just buy, like, eight tickets."
