If you know anything about Band of Horses, then you know that the South Carolina-by-way-of-the-Pacific-Northwest group is best seen in a live setting. The "Funeral" rockers proved their mettle recently with a raucous show at the Metro in Chicago that helped kick off this year's Lollapalooza festival.
At that gig they unleashed a number of songs that appear on their upcoming second major-label album, Mirage Rock, including "Slow Cruel Hands of Time," "Dumpster World," "Everything's Gonna Be Undone" and their swinging new single, "Knock Knock."
The latter features in a new live video the band shot during rehearsals at the Pink Garter Theater in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Bathed in blue lights, the band rips through the boot-stomping ripper with the same infectious energy they bring to their live dates in front of a full house.
Fans who order a limited-edition deluxe version of the album, due out on September 18, will get five bonus tracks as well as access to exclusive behind-the-scenes footage of the band and producer Glyn Johns in the studio during sessions.
Currently on tour with My Morning Jacket, BOH will play alongside the Foo Fighters, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, the Black Keys and K'Naan at the upcoming anti-poverty Global Festival in New York's Central Park on September 29.
Then, in October, they'll take part in the Railroad Revival tour along with Willie Nelson and Jamey Johnson on a unique trip that will bring 16 1940s vintage rail cars across the nation for a series of open-air shows at pop-up concerts in parks, fields and lots near railroad tracks.
