Hi LG. That could have some validity. We knew from the previous books that Edward prefered the lion and his hunting stealth and grace was like the lion, as versus Emmett's preference for bears, as well ashe being bearlike. There is also the point made in this chapter that Bella's sense of smell transfers to desired taste and the grass-eating Elk do not smell as delectable as the meat-eating lion, so opportunity of choice presented itself with a natural selection. Of course nothing would taste as good as a nice, juicy human (also meat eating for the most part).
