Reportedly, Lionsgate has acquired Summit Entertainment for around $400 million, because of the Summit’s most successful series of ‘Twilight’ franchise. Meanwhile the last installment Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn: Part II hitting theaters in November 16, 2012. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will be soon respire their famous roles of Edward Cullen and Bella Swan as the Lionsgate hints there might more films from Twilight series!
Lionsgate acquired the rights from Summit many are assuming that the franchise will continue the series, despite the fact that there are no more books to adapt. During an interview with LA Times, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer stated that ‘Twilight’ will go on. It’s hard for him to imagine a movie that does $700 million-plus doesn’t have ongoing value. He added that it was an amazing franchise that they have done a great job of maintaining with absolutely no deterioration.
A close source to the achievement suggested that Lionsgate, unlike Summit, has a television production department and may consider using it to turn ‘Twilight into a TV series. Feltheimer was asked if there’s a possibility of that happening. He replied: ‘I would certainly hope so’. However, it is great news for Twilight fans, as they have hoped and prayed that Meyer would write another novel or that the films wouldn’t end in 2012.
